When it was announced last year that PokerStars would return to New Jersey, speculation began as to how long it would take the company to rise to the top of the iPoker industry.

Estimates varied, but the general consensus was that PokerStars would eventually reach the top.

Amazingly, PokerStars has outperformed most everyone’s expectations and has already taken over the top spot in NJ online poker just one week after its official launch.

Moreover, PokerStars NJ is not only the top online poker site in New Jersey but also the top regulated online poker site in the United States.

PokerStars Takes One Week to Ascend to Top of NJ iPoker

PokerStars NJ officially opened to the general public on March 21 after a successful five-day soft launch period.

As expected the site saw a hot launch with over 1,200 players logging in on the first day during peak hours to test out the new product.

After the initial launch, it was unclear just how many players would keep coming back but so far the site has shown little sign of slowing down.

According to data acquired from PokerScout.com, PokerStars NJ is presently averaging 180 cash game players daily with a peak of around 410 players.

This makes the site the #1 online poker site in NJ. The other providers rank as follows:

  • WSOP / 888 NJ – 140 cash players daily, 340 during peak hours
  • PartyPoker / Borgata – 100 cash players daily, 255 during peak hours

Compared to numbers pre-PokerStars, WSOP is down 30% and PartyPoker 20%. However, the overall NJ iPoker market is up 20% since the PokerStars launch last week.

PokerStars Also Outperforming Interstate Network

PokerStars has not only jumped to the top in NJ but it's also outperforming the interstate online poker network. This makes PokerStars NJ the top regulated online poker room in the United States.

The interstate poker network consisting of WSOP NV and Delaware Poker averages 160 cash players daily with right at 300 during peak hours. PokerStars NJ also ranks 5th in online poker in the United States when factoring in unregulated sites.

It also has a realistic shot at overtaking the Merge poker network for the fourth spot in the future provided that cash-game traffic continues to grow.

Superior Software and Spin & Gos Helping to Retain Players

PokerStars NJ has quickly risen to the top of the online poker ranking in the regulated market thanks to both a superior product and Spin & Go tournaments.

PokerStars has produced a superior online poker product for years and New Jersey players are now getting reacquainted with its first-rate software.

Next, PokerStars is offering its popular Spin & Go variant with prizes ranging up to $10,000 for standard events.

It's presently offering a promotion on the $10 events that will pay $100,000 to the winner. That will certainly keep a few players coming back hoping to hit the massive payday.

Now the question remains whether PokerStars will continue to grow or if players will begin to fall off once the novelty wears off.

It may take a few months to find out but for now players are simply enjoying the return of PokerStars to New Jersey.
